Miley Cyrus Blasts Urban Outfitters for Being Shady and Anti-Gay
Miley Cyrus has waded in the recent controversy hitting fashion store Urban Outfitters. After words spread out that the company has ripped off one of an independent jewelry designer's necklace lines, the former star of "Hannah Montana" took to Twitter to speak out her opinion about the retailer.
"Love that everybody is hating on Urban Outfitters," the 18-year-old first tweeted. In a following post, she pointed out why she has no tolerance for the retailer. "Not only do they steal from artists but every time you give them money you help finance a campaign against gay equality. #SHADYASHELL," so she wrote.
The songstress, who will be seen starring opposite Demi Moore in "LOL: Laughing Out Loud", continued on to show her support for gay rights. " 'IF WE ALLOW GAY MARRIAGE NEXT THING U KNOW PEOPLE WILL BE MARRYING GOLD FISH' - Rick Santorum UO contributed $13,000 to this mans campaign," her tweet read.
Urban Outfitters was recently hit with accusation that the company has copied Stevie Koerner's necklace design. The independent artist wrote on her blog last Wednesday, May 25, "I'm very disappointed in Urban Outfitters. I know they have stolen designs from plenty of other artists. I understand that they are a business, but it's not cool to completely rip off an independent designer's work."

Miley Cyrus Leaves Mexico City, Remembers Jeff Conway
Finished up with a lengthy string of overseas showswas spotted prepping to depart the International Airport of Mexico City on Friday (May 27).
The "Love Song" starlet gave a cheerful wave to paparazzi as she trekked into the International terminal to board the outbound aircraft headed back to the States.
As previously reported by GossipCenter, Miley closed out the first round of Gypsy Heart tour shows at Foro Sol the previous night - as she's set for a much-deserved break before heading to Asia and Australia for more gigs beginning June 17th.
On a side note, Miss Cyrus was among the many stars paying their respects to late actor Jeff Conway - who passed away earlier today.
Of the sad news, the 18-year-old thoughtfully tweeted, "RIP Jeff Conaway. I'll see you in another life."
Miley Cyrus Defends her Transition out of Disney
Teen singer Miley Cyrus has taken to defend her transition from wholesome Disney star to independent artist, on her Latin American tour.
Promoting her second album 'Can't Be Tamed' told reporters in Mexico City, her fanbase was a strong as ever.
'I love the timing that I had because I started my show when I was 11 years-old so by the time I started becoming more of an adult I was already done with my show and ready to go on to being an artist just by myself and kind of being able to say what I want to say but also have had the opportunity to inspire the younger kids as well. So I feel like I've been, really, really fortunate to be able to hit a market that some people aren't lucky enough to hit. I have some of the youngest fans and I have a lot of older fans too, so a wide range of who I can inspire and hopefully encourage to do good things,' Cyrus said.
The 18-year-old has sought to distance herself from her Hannah Montana character, which earned her millions of fans worldwide.
Cyrus has been caught up in a series of scandals, as she attempts to move away from her clean Disney image. In 2010, a home video of the star using a bong went viral. It's the teen's first live tour of Latin America.
'I've had an amazing time and probably the best tour that I've ever had. The fans have been better than ever and you know, it's amazing to walk out to a sold out show of 60,000 people. I never thought that would happen in a place I've never been.'
Cyrus was the youngest female star to feature in Forbes rich list in 2010, with reports of a television and music franchise worth approximately $1 billion.
